Repitition

You know how when you're running a small two-man letterpress company with both printers/designers living on opposite ends of the east coast, and you have a blog that you try to regularly post to, with things that you find quasi-pertinent, and then you start slacking, and then you feel pressure for a good post, and then one partner asks the other partner to come up with one word that the other partner will then have to make a blog post about, and the 1st partner comes up with the word seaweed, and then you find a seaweed pattern and an animal known as a "dugong" to post about.

Yeah, I know, it happens to me all the time. Click on the pattern image to inspect it a little closer. Good job, Henri Gillet. (Images courtesy of NYPL Digital Image gallery.)

Playlists to churn butter by

Spending a considerable number of my waking hours behind a bakery counter, leads you to ponder things you might not unless you were spending a considerable number of your waking hours behind a bakery counter..... like, "if I were to one day own a bakery.... what music would be on the bakery's playlist?" I guess if I was a smart proprietor I would take my average customer's musical proclivities to determine said imagined bakery soundtrack, but let's assume i'm not. I think the first five songs added to the playlist would have to be: 1) Kate Bush- Hounds of Love 2) Bruce Springsteen- Thunder Road 3) Brenton Wood- Oogum Boogum 4) Aretha Franklin- Do Right Woman, Do Right Man 5) Gram Parsons- We'll Sweep our the Ashes in the Morning. Oh, how music can make you feel good.

Until that happens, I have my own little bakery at home. Last weekend's project: making butter (and therefore it's by-product, buttermilk). Take a look at the pictures above. Butter.

A sample of my family's humor. Just beyond the frame of this photograph is a window.

Saying my dad has a camera for a third appendage would be an understatement. Merci pour les images, Pop!

Workin' on it...

J-Dilla's amazing album, Donuts, has always been on heavy rotation in the shop. One of the samples he uses became our little motto (and the title of this post). What we've printed lately.
